Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Saigon Arrival

Arrive at Saigon airport, meet the guide with the welcome signboard. Transfer to hotel for check in with an orientation tour of Saigon city to have an overview of Saigon.  If time permits, dinner at one of the finest local restaurant in Saigon. Free at your own leisure. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

Day 2:  Saigon Cooking Class (Meals: B/L)

Morning cooking lesson at the Vietnam Cookery Center: the hands-on cooking course is conducted by a professional chef and translated by a MC who will explain the teaching of the chef and talk about the history and culture of Vietnamese cuisine. The lesson includes a market visit and lunch. Afternoon excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels : Cu Chi was an important base during the American War, because of its strategic location. The Vietcong built a 200km long network of tunnels connecting command posts, hospitals, shelters, and weapon factories. Dug out by hand tools without the use of cement, this amazing network was only recently opened to tourists. Overnight at hotel in Saigon

Day 3:  Saigon - Mekong Delta (Meals: B/L)

Leave your hotel at 7.30 for a 3-hour drive to Cai Be with stop en route at Trung Luong Bonsai garden for a tea break. Upon arrival, board a motorized boat to visit the popcorn cake, rice paper making family before visiting the lively floating market of Cai Be. Then continue by boat towards Vinh Long province to see the diverse fish traps in order to learn a kind of lazy fishing. After cruising along small shady canals, we step ashore and take a chance to watch a typical and interesting music show of the Mekong cultural life. Lunch is at the home/ bonsai garden. Afternoon, take a walk for about half an hour to enjoy the rural peaceful atmosphere of the countryside life, on the way we can also stop en route to learn more about fruit trees. Continue by boat to visit the brick and pottery factories. Back in the car at about 3 pm to drive to Can Tho. On arrival in the capital city of the Mekong Delta, do a walking city tour, including the local evening market to take photos of the busy trading activities before checking in the hotel. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 4:  Mekong Delta - Saigon (Meals: B/L)

Early morning board for a 3-hour cruise to Cai Rang and Phong Dien, 2 big floating markets with stops at a Bun Tau noodle factory and a short trek before arriving at a rice-husking mill. You can even try passing one of the many fragile monkey bridges along the canals photo shot. At the floating markets, you will discover a typical way of displaying and advertising farm products of local people gathering on the Mekong river to trade their goods. Drive back to Saigon with a lunch stop at My Tho. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

Day 5: Saigon - Danang - Hoi An (Meals: B)

Morning transfer to the airport to take flight to Danang. Pick up upon arrival to Danang. Visit the fascinating Cham Museum, famous China Beach and the Marble Mountains en route to charming Hoi An. Known as Faifo to early Western traders, it was one of South East Asia's major international ports and today it still retains that special old-world feel. Enjoy a walking tour through the Old Quarter and try some of the local specialties. Hoi An is also famous for its large number of tailor shops, so if you want to have a new wardrobe made up, this is the time to do it. Overnight in Hoi An

Day 6:  Hoi An Cooking Class (Meals: B/L)

We start the day (8.45am) with a drink at Hai Scout Cafe as our meeting point.Visit Hoi An's colourful market, and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your camera is handy. On arrival, we have a chance to explore the cooking school's herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An's and Vietnam's well-known dishes. The cooking class is an interesting and fun way to learn about the local cuisine - the class runs for about an hour and 15 minutes, and includes demonstrations from the school's chefs as well as the chance for us to help prepare some dishes. Included in the demonstration is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). Free at leisure by your own to explore the ancient town of Hoi An or shopping at tailor shops. Overnight at hotel in Hoi An

Day 7: Hoi An - Danang - Hanoi (Meals: B)

Morning transfer to Danang airport for flight to Hanoi. After check-in hotel in Hanoi we enjoy  1 hour cyclo tours around the Hanoi City's old quarters and the traditional water puppetry show. Transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Hanoi

Day 8:  Hanoi Cooking and Sightseeing Tours (Meals: B)

Morning cooking class: Today's class begins with a walk, accompanied by the Chef of the Spices Garden Restaurant, to the local market, where participants get a chance to learn all about Vietnamese ingredients. After that, everyone rolls up their sleeves in the kitchen to prepare a proper Vietnamese meal. After the class lunch will be served in the Spices Garden Vietnamese Restaurant to sample all the different dishes prepared during the class. This afternoon you will discover Hanoi with an English speaking guide. Part of your tour will include sightseeing by cyclo, a bicycle type taxi, by which you'll discover the Old Quarter made up of the so called "36 streets," most of which are named after the crafts or merchandise traditionally sold there. Dinner tonight at another of Hanoi's fine restaurants. Afterwards enjoy a performance of a traditional water puppet show. This fantastic art form originated in northern Vietnam and is best seen in Hanoi. The Municipal Water Puppet Theater is located on the shore of Hoan Kiem Lake. Overnight at hotel in Hanoi City.

Day 9:  Hanoi Departure (Meals: B)

Free at leisure until transferring to the airport to take departure flight for next destination.

Day 1: Saigon Arrival (Meals : N/A)

Pick up upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City. Transfer to the hotel for check-in. Free at leisure. Stay overnight in Saigon.

Day 2: Saigon Cooking Course & City Tours (Meals : B)

Morning discussion of Vietnamese cuisine with the hotel chef, followed by hands-on cooking class. Enjoy your creations for lunch.  Afternoon tour of Saigon's historic landmarks including the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, former Presidential Palace.  Visit Ben Thanh market to see the abundance of spices, fruits, and foods used in Vietnamese cooking.

Day 3: Saigon - Mekong Delta - My Tho (Meals : B)

Heading out of the town, we travel by roads to the Mekong Delta, Vietnam's largest rice bowl. On arrival in My Tho we embark on a boat navigating around the intricate small canals in the delta region, which is a great way to observe the local lifestyle close-up and catch a view dotted by many islands. The exciting excursion will pass the lush green vegetation before arriving at the famous Unicorn Island. Here we have opportunities to stroll around an orchard, taste many seasonal fruits and enjoy wonderful traditional music. The next stop of our trip is Ben Tre Province to visit some fascinating local industries. After feasting on a huge lunch we return to Ho Chi Minh, stopping off along the way to see the beautiful Ving Trang Pagoda and the Cho Lon, Saigon's Chinatown, which is crammed with sacred temples and mysterious, narrow lanes.

Day 4: Saigon - Danang (Meals : B/L)

An early morning transfer to airport for a flight to Danang. On arrival we are greeted and driven a short distance to Hoi An which was originally a Cham seaport but has been influenced down centuries by a myriad of traders from various cultures. There are plenty to see in this tranquil and delightful town, some of which are the famous Japanese Covered Bridges, the Pottery Museum, the 200 years old Tam Ky House, the Chua Ong Pagoda and the vibrant market. We visit these sights on an enchanting walking tour past many low tiled houses scattered along the small streets and assembly halls which reflect the town's multi-cultural past.

Day 5: Hoi An Cooking Tours (Meals : B/L)

Day 6: Hoi An - Hue (Meals : B)

Morning depart Hoi An for Hue, the capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty of emperors from 1802 till 1945. The scenic route passes through Danang before climbing over the Mountain Clouds Hai Van Pass where a spectacular panorama of the central coastline can be viewed at the summit, dropping down to the wonderfully photogenic fishing village of Lang Co located on a sand dune line. Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at Thanh Tam restaurant in Lang Co village before continuing driving to Hue. Upon arrival check in your hotel. Afternoon , take city tours to visit Imperial Citadel, Forbidden city and Royal Place. Free walking to visit Dong Ba market. Overnight in Hue.

Day 7: Hue Cooking Tours (Meals : B/L)

At 7:30 in the morning, we follow Mrs. Cuc, the owner of Y Thao Garden House to Dong Ba central market, where she gives an instruction on how to choose food for our cooking lesson at 9:30 at Y Thao Garden House. Lunch is the food we prepare. In the afternoon, travel by Dragon Boat on the romantically named Perfume River to Thien Mu pagoda standing on the riverbank with its seven-storey tower.

Day 8: Hue - Hanoi (Meals : B)

After breakfast we explore Hue on our own until transferring to the airport for a short flight north. Ha Noi, Vietnam's capital, is a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some Asia ‘s most striking colonial architecture. The relaxing atmosphere is also a highlight of Hanoi. After checking into hotel, we have time visiting the beautiful lake of Hoan Kiem with its sacred temple, the picturesque West Lake and the Dong Xuan Market. A perfect way to finish the day is to enjoy a short cyclo excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places.

Day 9: Hanoi Cooking Tours - Half day city tours (Meals : B)

Morning market tours with the hotel chef and cooking demonstration at the Metropole Sofitel Hotel. Having lunch at Spices Garden. Afternoon city tours to visit the city's landmarks such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Once Pillar Pagoda, The Temple of Literature, 1 hour cyclo tours around Hanoi old quarters and enjoy the traditional water puppetry show. Transfer back to hotel

Day 10: Hanoi - Halong Bay - Hanoi (Meals : B/L)

Morning drive to Halong, 180 km east of Hanoi. On arrival, board on dragon boat and have buffet lunch on board. Discover Halong Bay, listed as a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. "Dragon descending to the sea" as it is known in Vietnamese, picturesque Halong Bay has more than 3,000 limestone islets rising from the clear emerald water, many of them containing beautiful grottoes. After 5 hour cruise, we come back to the boat station and transfer back to Hanoi. Stay overnight in Hanoi

Day 11: Hanoi Departure (Meals : B)

Free at leisure until transferring to the airport for departure flight. End of service.

Morning depart for Halong Bay, we go through the scenic countryside. The wondrous Halong Bay is truly one of Vietnam’s most impressive scenic sights. Heading out of the town we embark on a boat for an exploration of the legendary Halong Bay. This exciting five hour cruise will provide us a fantastic view of the picturesque scenery blending with the sky and some 3,000 limestone islands rising amazingly from the clear and emerald water. The limestone karsts formations are littered with beaches, grottoes and beautiful caves. Along the way we will anchor for a leisurely swim in a secluded cove and an enjoyable visit to one of the many hidden grottoes beneath towering cliffs. Stay overnight on the Junk Cruise

Day 4: Halong - Hanoi (Meals: B, L)

Waking up and having breakfast served onboard. Continue cruising around the bay. Take sampan to visit Luon Cave and come back to the boat. Having brunch before disembarking and van will pick you up at the pier and transfer back to Hanoi. Visit Dong Trieu ceramic and pottery village on the way. Arrive in Hanoi at 04:00 pm. Hoi An Daily Cooking Tour Situated on the banks of the Hoi An River, the Red Bridge Restaurant & Cooking School is designed to meet the growing demand from local and international travellers, for a quality Vietnamese dining experience with personal service and individual style.


Located in 2 acres of tropical surroundings, and only 2 kms from the centre of Hoi An, Red Bridge is easily reached by car, bike, cyclo or boat - please see below for the Red Bridge free boat shuttle timetable.

The restaurant is open daily for lunch, and for dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Special group events / functions can be organized by request.

The cooking school offers a daily, half-day cooking tour that introduces travellers to Vietnamese cuisine. Suitable for all travellers, the program is a fun and interesting way to learn about the local food. The program runs with a minimum of 2 passengers.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1  Arrive Hanoi

Welcome at the airport by your local guide and transfer to our local house located on the Red River bank. After check-in, free to explore the village.




Day 2  Hanoi city tour

Full-day tour of Vietnam’s capital city, including Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum and traditional stilt house, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and the revered One-Pillar Pagoda. Pay visits to typical Vietnamese places of worship, Quan Thanh Temple and Tran Quoc Pagoda, along the shore of West Lake. Just before lunch, tour Vietnam’s first university, the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature. In the afternoon visit to the Ethnology Museum, and end the day at the beautiful Ngoc Son Temple on an island in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake. After dinner, enjoy the water puppet show.

Day 3  Hanoi - Cooking class ;

After breakfast, transfer to the market with our Chef:

Day 4  Hanoi - Ha Long - Cooking class

After breakfast, transfer to Halong bay. Arrive about noon and board a traditional Junk with fresh seafood lunch served on board. Cruise on the bay to explore the amazing limestone islands and caves.

07:00PM: Dinner with dishes that you learn.

Explore the Three Lagoons by bamboo boat at night. Overnight on board.

Day 5  Halong Bay - Hanoi

An early swim in the morning, then continue to cruise on the bay with a nice seafood lunch on board. In the afternoon, bus picks up and drives back to Hanoi. Overnight at local house.

Day 6  Hanoi - Hue

Transfer to the airport for the flight from Hanoi to Hue. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel. After lunch at local restaurant, you visit the town of Hue, the Imperial Citadel, An Hien garden house to enjoy the traditional architecture and quiet garden paths. Dinner at restaurant and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 7  Hue - Cooking class

08:00AM - 09:00AM: Dong Ba Market.

09:00AM - 12:00AM: Cooking class at Tinh Gia Vien restaurant.

12:00AM - 01:00PM: Lunch with dishes you have learned.

Hue people and their skills to decorate dishes that every dish is an art work.

In the afternoon, pay a visit to the tomb of Nguyen Dynasty Emperor Tu Duc and Thien Mu Pagoda on the banks of the river. Dinner at a city restaurant and overnight at the hotel in Hue.

Day 8  Hue - Da Nang – Hoi An

After breakfast, transfer to Hoi An via the scenic Hai Van Pass, with a stop to view the spectacular panorama of the central coastline, and the Cham Museum, where many sculptures from the ancient Champa Kingdom are displayed. Continue to Hoi An town, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage site because of its unusually well-preserved ancient streets and homes. Transfer and check in to your hotel in late afternoon. After lunch, explore the old port town’s narrow cobblestone streets and pay a visit to historic sites including a traditional Chinese trading house, Phuc Kien Pagoda, and the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel in Hoi An.

Day 9  Hoi An - Cooking class

09:00AM - 12:00AM: Cooking class at Café des Amis.

Afternoon, a boat trip on Thu Bon River to the hotel where you can relax on white sandy beach. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10 Hoi An - Da Nang - Sai Gon

Transfer to the airport for the flight from Da Nang to Saigon. After pick-up and check-in at the hotel, set out on a city tour of the former capital of French Indochina, once known as Saigon. Historic landmarks include the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, the former Presidential Palace, the War Museum and the ethnic Chinese district of Cholon. Dinner at a city restaurant and overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 Sai Gon - Vinh Long

After breakfast, drive from Saigon to Vinh Long, board on Deluxe wooden boat. Boat cruise to explore the colorful river life on Mekong Delta. Stop along the way and explore villages by bikes. Overnight on board. 

Day 12 Vinh Long - Can Tho - Cooking class on board

Wake up early in the morning to visit floating market. It’s a great chance for photos. Back to the boat for breakfast.

12:00AM - 01:00PM: Lunch with dishes you have learned.

Afternoon, continue to visit fish farm, garden where you can pick fresh fruits yourself. Dinner and overnight on board. Evening, enjoy the traditional music by local people.   

Day 13 Can Tho - Cooking class - Sai Gon

Early breakfast on board, say goodbye to the crew.

09:00AM - 12:00AM: Cooking class at Nam Bo restaurant.

12:00AM - 01:00PM: Lunch with dishes you have learned.  After lunch, drive back to Saigon and arrive in the afternoon. Time for shopping or explore town on own. Farewell dinner and  overnight at the hotel.

Day 14 Sai Gon - Departure

Free until transfer to the airport for flight home.

The Hoa Sua restaurant is part of a training school where disadvantaged Vietnamese children and teens are educated in cooking and restaurant skills that will enable them to have successful careers in the hotel and restaurant industry.

Hoa Sua School offers Vietnamese cooking classes for visitors to Hanoi in the training centre of Hoa Sua School in Linh Nam, Hoang Mai (This is located off Thanh Tri dyke to the South of Hanoi. It is 5 km from Viet Xo Hospital due South.
 


 The cooking teachers bring their excellent skills to you in a fun environment! They have often practised themselves abroad and thus have numerous experiences and are able to speak good English. Depending on your needs, the teacher may be able to take you on a visit of a local market in central Hanoi to choose the ingredients. Alternatively, the teacher can prepare all the ingredients for you. After your practical class, it will be time to taste the dishes you have prepared and our expert chef will be able to give his feedback on your own chef skills.

Training times: From 8 am to 12 pm From 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm
Price: US$79 net, per person, from min 2 persons. If you want to visit market, you wil pay extra 15 USD per person.
